About The Home Steward
We care for
what you built.
Introduction to The Home Steward:
Maintaining a home well means staying ahead of it. The small things noticed and handled. The larger ones, the renovation you have been meaning to start, the contractor you have been meaning to find, approached with the same care and transparency as everything else.
In Summit, the search for someone genuinely trustworthy usually begins the same way: asking a neighbor if they know anyone good.
We built The Home Steward to be that answer.
Kory spent years building technology companies from the ground up. Sebastian spent two decades as a photographer for luxury brands and before that, on construction sites. Between us, we have managed major projects, done the work ourselves, and raised our families here in Summit for years. We are not a national franchise. We are not a service that sends someone different every time. We are your neighbors, and our reputation in this community is everything we have.
We started this because we felt the same frustration. Finding people you genuinely trust to work on your home, let alone hand them your keys when you leave for the summer, is harder than it should be. So we built the service we wished existed.
Two Summit residents built something their neighbors told them they needed.
The Founders
We’re Summit residents. Our children go to school here. This isn’t just a market to us. It’s our home.
Kory grew up in the rural Midwest, where if something needed fixing, you fixed it yourself and you did it right, because you'd be living with it. Decks, bathrooms, landscaping, painting. He even spent several years on a professional painting crew during college, where he learned that the difference between good work and great work usually comes down to whether someone actually cares.
He went on to spend years building operations and technology systems for startups in NYC, the kind of work where details matter, follow-through is everything, and a half-finished job isn't an option.
Now he lives in Summit with his family. The Home Steward is how he applies all of it, not as an outsider offering a service, but as a neighbor who holds your home to the same standard he holds his own.
Sebastian spent more than two decades as a professional photographer for luxury brands, but he always saw the camera as just a tool. His true passion is making things well.
He worked on construction sites in college and later managed major renovation projects with general contractors at his home in Summit. The preventative maintenance and smaller jobs like garage shelving, backyard steps, French drains, he always does himself.
That eye for detail didn't go anywhere. He co-founded The Home Steward to step away from corporate sets, stay close to his family in Summit, and bring the same hands-on care to his neighbors' homes.
He still shoots fine art photography, though these days, mostly for himself. His work can be found at sebastianmaderstudio.com

The Stewards of Summit
The Home Steward was featured in the June 2026 issue of Vicinity Magazine. The story behind the company, two Summit residents, a gap in the market, and a commitment to genuinely trustworthy home care, resonated with the editors from the first conversation.
We are proud to be recognized, and even prouder that the need we set out to address is one the wider community recognizes too.
